Law Enforcement Liability

Civil Rights and Law Enforcement Liability

As a former police officer, Mr. Bullman is well aware that law enforcement officers are tasked with keeping the peace and protecting citizens and property, through the zealous but ethical and measured enforcement of state and federal laws. Police officers, however, sometimes take matters too far and seriously injure civilians or trample their constitutionally protected rights. Mr. Bullman believes that police officers have a high calling that relies, in part, on the reputation of police officers in the community as honest, fair and knowledgeable.  Therefore, police misconduct, whether the use of excessive force, improper detention or arrest, or violating other clearly established civil liberties is simply not acceptable.  We are ready to take action to protect your rights and hold police officers and, in some instances, their supervisors or even the police department, sheriff’s department or other government agency accountable for their actions.

If you believe that you have been the victim of police brutality or excessive force, you need to be cautious, as everything you do can impact your claim. You need to get knowledgeable counsel involved quickly, to protect your rights.  At the Bullman Law Group, Mr. Bullman closely examines all civil rights and police misconduct claims. When he can, Mr. Bullman works with law enforcement officials to address problem officers or policies, protect citizens from unconstitutional practices, and hopefully help make law enforcement agencies more accountable and professional.  Handling these cases for years with significant success, Mr. Bullman has the experience and resources to address a wide range of concerns, from the failure of the FBI to catch serial killers to officers that have been allowed to run wild and “off the chain” wholly unaccountable for their actions, until we get involved.

Along with other experienced attorneys from across the nation, Mr. Bullman has successfully represented clients in claims of police misconduct ranging from illegal strip-searches and arrests, to wrongful death, abuse in custody and sexual abuse.

As a former police officer, Mr. Bullman has worked with prosecutors and law enforcement in both state and federal courts to prosecute criminals to the fullest extent of the law and defend the rights of crime victims.  At the Bullman Law Group, we continue to help crime victims by zealously representing our clients’ claims for compensation for physical, emotional and psychological injuries and other damages suffered at the hands of criminals and sometimes even police officers that, instead of protecting and defending the rights of citizens violate that trust.  Mr. Bullman also helps our clients obtain assistance through support groups and other community and governmental resources.

In addition to our work protecting citizens from police brutality and other misconduct, Mr. Bullman also feels it is important to serve and help protect the fine men and women of law enforcement, by providing low cost or even pro bono representation to officers in a variety of legal matters.
