City of Atlanta settles with our client
The City of Atlanta recently settled a lawsuit stemming from abuses of our client’s civil rights by several Atlanta Police Department (“APD”) officers. The client was walking home from a MARTA station when he was suddenly confronted by an APD officer. Despite the fact our client had done absolutely nothing wrong and was not resisting in any way, the officer tackled him to the ground and began striking him with an ASP baton. The beating resulted in our client suffering a broken bone and years of pain and suffering. The officer arrested our client and charged him with alleged traffic violations, despite admitting in his incident report that neither he nor other officers at the scene could prove our client was in a car at all, much less driving.
The City of Atlanta settled with our client, paying $175,000.
