DeKalb County Police Department denies quota system
The DeKalb Police Department denies using a quota system, without discussing of the officer’s specific allegations. The department provided a canned statement about officers and their dedication to the job. It sounds good, but it misses the point. It is not the officers who set quotas for arrests and fine generating tickets. It’s the administration. Most of the officers are hardworking men and women who follow and enforce the law, but they are pressured by a defective administration that requires numbers, rather than professionalism and service and protection of the community. Unfortunately, a few have chosen to buckle to this pressure, resulting in improper searches and arrests. These policies, resulting in unconstitutional behavior, must end. We hope other officers make a stand and together help bring about change for the department and the community.
